Sara Wohlgemuth tied for team-high scoring honors with 12 points in Hand's 39-34 loss to Hillhouse in the Class L state championship game at Mohegan Sun.

Abby Charron scored a team-high 15 points and Paige Brown added 10 points in Canton's 52-45 loss to Trinity Catholic in the Class S state championship game Mohegan Sun.

Sara Wohlgemuth scored 12 points and 19th seeded Hand advanced to the Class L state final with a 33-27 upset win over 2nd seeded Windsor.
 

CLASS S:
 

Abby Charron scored 13 points to lead Canton to their 47-32 win over NW Catholic; Canton moves on to play in their 4th state championship game in the past 5 years. Erin Carucci led NWC with a game-high 17 points and Caroline Rutenberg added 7.

STATE TOURNAMENT QUARTERFINALS:

 

CLASS M:

 

Freshman Sydney Rossacci scored 7 points, Caitlyn Hunt scored 4 and Dempsey Lajoie added 2 points in Sheehan's 75-55 win over Weaver in the Class M quarterfinals. The Titans now advance to the state semifinals for the first time since 2000.

Junior Sara Wohlgemuth (pictured) scored a game-high 21 points as Hand advanced to the Class L semis for the 3rd straight year with a 58-46 win over Pomperaug. Cara McGettigan scored 15 points in the loss for the Panthers.
 

CLASS S:

 

Abby Charron scored a team-high 14 points as Canton won its school-record 25th game of the season in a 37-25 win over Old Lyme to advance to the Class S state tournament semifinals for the 4th time in the past 5 seasons; Freshman Briana Lebrun had 10 points, 18 rebounds while Erin Carucci and Caroline Rutenberg added 9 points each in NW Catholic's 49-44 OT win over East Hampton.

Tara Laugeni led all scorers with 18 points in her final game as Amity lost to 2nd seeded New London. She finished her career with over 1000 points & was Amity's all-time career rebounding leader.

Senior Maddee McGee scored a team-high 16 points in her final game as Granby lost to East Catholic 47-30; Caitlyn Hunt scored 10 points and freshman Sydney Rossacci had 6 fourth quarter points as Sheehan defeated Sacred Heart-Waterbury 50-38.

Hailey Bruneau scored a team-high 18 points and senior Kailey Lipka finished her career with 15 points, 8 assists and 5 steals in 20th seeded Lyman Hall's 67-57 loss to 4th seeded Hillhouse; Sara Wohlgemuth scored 15 points as Hand defeated North Haven 68-38; Cara McGettigan scored 6 points in Pomperaug's 60-44 win over Branford. Gabby Lucertini scored 11 points in the loss for the Hornets.

 

CLASS S-2nd Round: 


Freshman Brianna Lebrun scored 20 points, Erin Carucci had 15 first half points and Caroline Rutenberg added 12 points as Northwest Catholic defeated Windham 70-48; Abby Charron had 15 points, 9 steals and 8 assists as Canton won their 16th consecutive game with a 64-37 win over Somers.

Maddie Patrick scored a game-high 15 points in Chase Collegiate's 48-29 win over the Dublin School (New Hampshire) in the NEPSAC Class E quarterfinals.

Olivia Deslauriers scored 13 points and Olivia Bonee had 9 points, 12 rebounds in Hall's 39-35 loss to Staples; Tara Laugeni scored 12 points in Amity's 41-33 victory at Simsbury; Tess Givens scored 6 points in Cheshire's 60-37 loss to Hamden.

Hayley Tucker scored 12 points as Sacred Heart-Waterbury defeated Oxford 50-35; Maddee McGee shared team-high scoring honors with 12 points in Granby's 62-55 win over Lewis Mills.

Kailey Lipka scored a game-high 20 points and Hailey Bruneau added 11 points as Lyman Hall notched their first state tournament win in 5 years as they defeated Brookfield 57-47; Sara Wohlgemuth scored a game-high 19 points as Hand defeated defending Class L state champion RHAM 50-40; Gabby Lucertini scored 14 points in 22nd seeded Branford's 61-46 upset win over 11th seeded Watertown; Kaylee Jackson scored 10 points in Naugatuck's 39-27 win over Avon. Kaitlyn Hards led the Falcons in the loss with 8 points; Eveani Okwuosa scored 8 points in North Haven's 45-34 win over Bullard Havens. It was the first state tournament win for the Indians in over 25 years.

 

CLASS S STATE TOURNAMENT-1st Round: 


Abby Charron scored a game-high 24 points and added 7 assists, while Paige Brown had 8 points, 8 rebounds as top-seeded Canton defeated Tourtellotte 60-37; Freshman Brianna Lebrun scored 15 points, Erin Carucci had 8 assists and Caroline Rutenberg had 12 rebounds, 5 blocks in NW Catholic's 53-41 victory over SMSA; Senior Kaitlin Capello scored a team-high 14 points in her final game as Portland lost to Coginchaug 55-36; Lauren Keel scored 10 points in East Windsor's 40-32 loss to Shepaug Valley; Senior Keira Francis scored 10 points and fellow senior Brooke D'Amboise added 9 points in their final games as Bolton lost to East Hampton 54-27.

In her final regular-season game, senior Grace Lawrence scored 5 points as Loomis Chaffee defeated Miss Porter's 75-49. Callie Godfrey scored 12 points in the loss.

 

 

 

THURSDAY FEBRUARY 21, 2019

 

Abby Charron scored a game-high 21 points & Paige Brown had 11 points, 12 rebounds as Canton beat SMSA 62-42 in the finals of the NCCC Tournament, giving the Warriors their first league title in 22 years; Maddie Patrick scored a game-high 23 points and Maya Tucker added 6 points in Chase Collegiate's 65-34 win over Harvey in the semifinals of the HVAL conference tournament.

 

 

 

TUESDAY FEBRUARY 19, 2019

 

Abby Charron had 12 points and 10 assists in Canton's 45-27 win over Suffield in the NCCC semis. The Warriors are now 21-1 on the season, have won 13 straight games and will host SMSA on Thursday night in the NCCC championship game; Callie Godfrey scored a team-high 15 points in Miss Porter's 53-35 loss to Taft.

Freshman Sara Macary had team highs of 15 points and 11 rebounds in 5th seeded Naugatuck's 55-51 loss to top seeded St. Paul in the NVL semifinals; Nicole Coolidge scored a team-high 15 points in East Longmeadow's 52-45 win over Westfield; Maddee McGee scored 10 points in Granby's 46-40 loss to Ellington in the NCCC quarterfinals.

Sophomore Maddie Patrick scored a career-high 38 points in Chase
Collegiate's 77-44 win over Marvelwood; Kaitlin Capello scored a
game-high 20 points in Portland's 51-39 loss to Morgan in the Shoreline
Conference quarterfinals; Junior Sara Wohlgemuth scored a team-high 19
points, including her 1000th career point, in Hand's 54-45 loss to
Wilbur Cross in the SCC quarterfinals; Tara Laugeni scored 18 points in
Amity's 71-61 loss to Hamden in the SCC quarterfinals; Freshman Kaylee
Jackson's (13 points) late game-tying 3 point FG, followed by frosh Sara
Macary's (8 pts, 6 rebs) blocked shot sent the game to OT, where
Naugatuck pulled away for a 52-45 victory over Ansonia in the NVL
quarterfinals; Olivia Bonee had 12 points and 8 rebounds in Hall's 44-27
loss to top-seeded Windsor in the CCC quarterfinals.

the SCC Tournament; Freshman Sara Macary scored a game-high 16 points
in Naugatuck's 59-23 win over Kennedy; Olivia Bonee had 11 points and 8
rebounds while Olivia Deslauriers added 10 points as 9th-seeded Hall
defeated 8th-seeded Simsbury 33-29 in the first round of the CCC
Tournament; Tara Laugeni scored 10 points as 7th-seeded Amity defeated

Hunt scored 12 in the win while Kailey Lipka's game-high 21 points led the Trojans. Hailey Bruneau added 14 points for LH & Theresa Lynch had 10; Tara Laugeni (20 points) scored her 1000th career point on Seniors Night in Amity's 60-24 win over Career. She is also the school's all-time career rebounding leader; Olivia Deslauriers scored 19 points while Olivia Bonee added 11 points, 11 rebounds in Hall's 52-40 win over cross-town rival Conard; Erin Carucci scored 17 points in NW Catholic's 35-30 win over Southington; Maddie Patrick scored 16 points in Chase Collegiate's 47-43 win over Gunnery; Kaitlin Capello had 14 points and 6 assists in Portland's 68-22 win over Cheney Tech.
